Clean Page Press builds author websites in WordPress. One page is $449 in 10 business days and five pages are $849 in 15, counted from when your text and images arrive. Each site has your books with buy links, your bio and a contact or mailing list form. The domain and hosting are in your name.
What goes on an author website?
An author website needs three things: your books, who you are, and a way for readers to reach you. Amazon doesn't require one, but a site gives readers a page you control, with every book in one place. We build it at two sizes: one scrolling page for $449, or five pages for $849.
The one-page site holds all three on one scrolling page: a book section with covers and buy links, a short bio with a photo, and a contact or mailing list form.
The five-page site gives each its own page: home, books, about, a page for one featured book, and contact.
What does a finished site look like?
A finished site is built in WordPress and checked on a phone before you see it, with phone and desktop layouts on every page. The domain, the hosting and the login are in your name, so any web person can work on it later. Here is what that looks like on a sample site.

What does an author website cost?

$449 one page

| Five pages | Home, books, about, one featured book page, contact; the same forms and layouts | $849 | 15, after your text and images arrive |
You pay for the domain and the hosting yourself, in your own name, so the site stays yours if you ever stop working with us.
For a sense of the market: HMD Publishing posts $497 for one page and $897 for five, Palmetto Publishing $1,799, and Reedsy's designers $1,400 to $5,000 (all read 2026-10-11).
Why WordPress?
We build in WordPress because you can leave. It runs a large share of the web, and almost any web designer can edit it. If you outgrow us, you hand the login to someone else and nothing has to be rebuilt. We also hand over a short guide to editing it yourself.
What did we learn building our own site?
We learned that the phone is where sites fail, and nobody notices on a desktop. Our own first build looked fine on every desktop page. On a phone, it did not. That measurement changed how we build every author website.
When we measured the first build of our own site on a 390 px phone screen, 10 of its 11 pages showed no button in the first screen. The first button sat between 927 and 2,601 px down. On a desktop every page looked fine.
So every site we build is checked at phone width first: the book, the buy link and the form have to show without scrolling past a wall of text.
How do we build it?
We build your author website in five steps, from the files you send to a short guide for editing it yourself. The clock starts when your text and images arrive: 10 business days for one page, 15 for five. Every account stays in your name the whole way through.
You send your covers, buy links, bio, a photo and the page list.
You buy the domain and hosting in your own name and add us as a user. We never need your email or bank login.
We build the pages in WordPress and check them on a phone and a desktop.
You review the site and send your changes.
We make the changes and hand over a short guide to editing it yourself.
What isn't included?
We don't write your bio from scratch or build a shop that takes payments. A blog set up with posts and monthly care after the fix window are extra too. Ask and we quote those separately. The build itself covers your books, your bio and a form, in a WordPress site you own.
We don't run ads or promise traffic. A site gives readers somewhere to land; it doesn't bring them on its own.
What else do authors ask?
How much does an author website cost?
At Clean Page Press, a one-page author website in WordPress costs $449 and a five-page site costs $849. You pay for the domain and hosting yourself, in your own name.
What should an author website have?
Your books with buy links, a short bio with a photo, and a way to contact you or join your mailing list. A five-page site adds a page for a featured book.
Do I own my author website?
Yes. The domain, the hosting and the WordPress login are in your name, so you can move the site or hand it to another designer at any time.
Do I need a website to sell books on Amazon?
No, Amazon doesn't require one. A site gives readers a page you control, with your mailing list form and every book in one place.
Can I edit the site myself after it is built?
Yes. It is built in WordPress, and we hand over a short guide to changing text, covers and links yourself.
