What size is a KDP paperback cover?
There is no single size. A full-wrap cover is the back, the spine and the front in one file. Your trim size sets the height and the width of the front and back. Your page count and paper set the spine, and 0.125 in of bleed goes on every edge.
How is the KDP spine width worked out?
Your KDP spine width is your page count times the thickness KDP lists for one page of your paper. On cream paper each page adds 0.0025 in, and on white paper 0.002252 in. Our sample wrap is for a 384-page book on cream paper, so its spine measures 0.96 in.
That is why we size the wrap only after the interior is final. Add or cut ten pages and the spine changes.
How many pages will my book be?
At 6 x 9 in, expect about one page for every 380 words of plain text. Our sample book measured that: its body pages held 241 to 450 words, 379 on average across folios 2 to 11. Pages full of dialogue held the fewest, and an 80,000 word book runs about 210 pages.

Body pages only. Front and back matter add a few more, and a smaller trim size adds many more. Your real count comes with the formatted file, and that is the number the spine is sized from.
Why can't I just stretch my ebook cover?
Because an ebook cover is the front only. A paperback needs a back cover, a spine with the title readable down it, and extra image past the trim on every edge. Stretch the front to fit and the type and artwork distort, so we rebuild the wrap from your source files instead.
How do we build a full wrap?
We build a full wrap in seven steps, and we start only once your interior is final and the page count is fixed. The spine comes from that count and your paper. Then we set the back, spine and front with bleed, check the print PDF against KDP's cover specs and send it with screenshots.

Do you make audiobook covers?
We make audiobook covers: a square version of your book cover, with the layout rebuilt for the square rather than cropped from the front. A tall cover cropped to a square usually cuts the title or the author name, and ACX wants both easy to read.

An audiobook cover is a square version of your book cover. ACX, the service that puts audiobooks on Audible, wants it at least 2,400 x 2,400 pixels, in RGB, as a JPG, PNG or TIF of 8 MB or less, with the title and author name easy to read (ACX help, Cover art requirements, help.acx.com/s/article/cover-art-requirements, checked 2026-10-11).
We don't produce audiobooks or narrate them. For narration, ACX lets you hire a narrator or narrate it yourself, and we can point you to how that works.
What do you need from me?
For a conversion, we need your ebook cover's source files (the layered design file, not just the JPEG), your trim size, your paper and your final page count. The form takes JPG, PNG, TIFF or PDF uploads, so share a layered Photoshop or Illustrator file (PSD or AI) as a link. For a new wrap, we need your title, author name, back-cover text and that same final page count.
What isn't covered?
A cover someone else built is not covered, and neither is a page count that changes after we size the spine, since that means a new spine. If KDP rejects a wrap we built for a size, spine or bleed reason, we fix it free when you tell us within 60 days of delivery.
