Short answer. For a first book, a one page author website is enough: the book with buy links, a short bio with a photo, and a contact or mailing list form on one scrolling page. Move to five pages when you have a series, a growing list, or ads aimed at one title. Ours costs $449 for one page, $849 for five.
Key points
- One page: books with buy links, bio and photo, a contact or mailing list form.
- Five pages: home, books, about, one featured book and contact.
- Our one-page author website is $449 in 10 business days; five pages are $849 in 15.
- Days count from when your text and images arrive.
- You can start with one page and add pages later. It is WordPress in your account.
What is on a one page author website?
Everything a reader needs, in order down one page. Your book cover with buy links at the top, a short bio with a photo in the middle, and a contact or mailing list form at the bottom. It has a phone layout and a desktop layout. For one to three books, a reader finds the buy button without clicking anywhere.
What do five pages add?
Room. The five-page site gives each job its own page: home, books, about, a page for one featured book, and contact. The featured book page is the main reason to move up, because it gives one title space for a longer description, review lines and every store link. Our post on which author website pages you need explains each one.
Which fits your first book?
Answer three questions. How many books do you have? Where will readers come from? Are you building a mailing list? One book, readers from Amazon, no list yet: one page. A series coming, a list, or ads to one book: five. If two of the three point to five, take five.
Is a one page author website bad for SEO?
Not for what an author needs. Readers mostly search your name or your book title, and one page with both in its title and text can answer those searches. Five pages give each book its own address, which helps once you have several titles. That is our view from building sites, not a ranking promise; we do not promise traffic.
What does the jump from $449 to $849 buy?
Four more pages and five more business days. The build is the same WordPress setup, in your own hosting, checked on a phone before you see it. Our post on what an author website costs lists what both prices include and what they leave out, such as writing your bio or a shop.
Why does a one page site still need a phone check?
Because one long page is where buttons sink. Our own site showed it: before cleanpagepress.com went live on 12 October 2026, nearly every page we checked on a 390 px phone hid its first button below the first screen (the full measurement is in our post on author website pages). On one page, the book and its buy link have to come first.
The fix we do for this: tell us how many books you have and where readers come from, and we recommend one page or five and build it in WordPress you own. Tell us about your books and we reply with a page plan and the price.
Can you start with one page and upgrade later?
Yes. The site is WordPress in your own account, so pages can be added when the second book is out. Ask us for a price when you are ready; the upgrade is not on our price sheet, so we quote it. For hosting costs while you wait, see our post on an author website on WordPress over three years, and for layouts to borrow, our author website examples.

What should you do next?
Write your three answers down: books, where readers come from, mailing list or not. If they point to one page, start on our author website page with your titles.
